Rule Number 1 In Auto Dealership Blogging
Sunday, January 29th, 2012It’s true that certain groups of people tend to enjoy certain cars more than others. One of the things you should avoid is calling your customers “Old” in a blog posts especially if you know most of your customers are a little older. It seems like common sense, but it occasionally does happen, and when it does, people actively complain about it. Complaints, of course, are never good for business.
Even though there are things to watch out for, you still need to be as honest as possible on your site. One thing you should not do is say that you are selling cars that all the younger people want if you know that is not the truth. If you know that your customers prize price over fancy accessories, don’t tell them that buyers that are interested in the cars are very into gadgetry. This is never a good thing to do because your customers will start to feel lied to.
If you break this rule, you might as well not have a blog!
Instead, make sure that all the words you describe your customers with are words that are viewed in a positive light. One of the words that is good to use is “Thrifty” as opposed to saying “Cheap”. Do you have older clients, if so make sure you call them “Experienced” or “Young at heart”. If you can’t come up with a nice way to say something, then just don’t say anything at all and avoid that conversation altogether.
As a dealership, you need to make people feel empowered by the fact that they are buying services from you. You have to show your potential clients that you hold them in high esteem. If you don’t value your readers, then they will know that you won’t value them as a customer either and therefore they won’t even bother going to your dealership.
Not sure whether the articles that you are posting to your blog are actually customer-friendly? The best way to tell what your customers like to read and whether or not they are friendly is to just read them aloud and see if you like it. If you wouldn’t want someone to write about you in that way, you shouldn’t use those words or phrases to describe your customers.
Something that you should watch out for is how you sound in an article. If you are trying to sell a car or educate your readers through the blog, then it is imperative that you get rid of the essay paper style writing and stick to pure facts and easy to understand language. As a blogger you need to use easy to understand words, a friendly voice and most importantly the feel that you actually careyou’re your readers.
The bottom line here is that you simply cannot run the risk of upsetting or insulting the very people who are reading your blog. If all you seem to do is insult people, then it would be beneficial to stop blogging right away or just detach the blog from your actual dealership.
As a dealership who runs a blog there are many dealer marketing ideas that you should be aware of and blogging is one of them. Just know that automotive marketing is essential to selling cars so make sure you put some effort into it.
