The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Introduction
Sunday, March 25th, 2012Set during WWII, the story begins as brothers Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie are sent to the countryside to live with Professor Digory Kirke to avoid the Blitz. While looking around the house, the youngest sibling, Lucy, unearths a wardrobe that has got a magical passage to a fantasy world called Narnia. On her arrival in Narnia, she meets the faun Tumnus who invites Lucy to tea. During their conversation, Tumnus explains he is a servant of the evil White Magician who has taken over Narnia and he is tasked to capture humans who stray into their world. Tumnus nonetheless , didn’t capture Lucy and she returns to their world with stories of her journey. All her siblings declined to believe her till one day Edmund sees Lucy disappear as she enters the wardrobe. He follows and rather than finding his sister, he meets the White Witch who introduced herself as the Queen of Narnia. She feeds Edmund with “Turkish Delight”, which enchants him into bringing all of his siblings to Narnia.
Later Edmund meets Lucy at the lamppost, the boundary between Narnia and our world. The young girl was confident that her bro would support her story when they return but instead he tells the remainder of the Pevensie children that Lucy is telling a lie. Eventually, all four children end up in Narnia after hiding in the wardrobe to elude visitors. Upon their arrival in the magic world, they meet Mr. And Mrs. Beaver who told them about the prediction the malicious magician will fall when the 4 siblings occupy the four thrones at Cair Paravel.
Mr. And Mrs. Beaver lead the kids to Aslan, the lion who is the true King of Narnia. Edmund nonetheless , didn’t join them as he sneaked into the castle of the White Witch to make a claim his reward and the promise that he would be made king. Sadly for Edmund, the Witch holds him captive and announces to finish his life as a traitor. Aslan secretly meets the White Witch and offers his life to spare Edmund. The eldest Pevensie is set free but at the cost of Aslan’s life. The Witch and her followers tie Aslan to the Stone Table where he’s humiliated before the Witch kills him with a knife.
Susan and Lucy keep vigil of the dead body of Aslan and are surprised to find out the following morning the he’s restored to life. Aslan carries both youngsters on his back to the castle of the White Witch, where Peter and Edmund are leading the final battle against evil. The Narnian army is losing the battle until Aslan arrives and breathes into the statues in the castle. The statues are brought to life and fought on their side against the malevolent Queen. They triumph eventually and Aslan kills the White Witch to revive Narnia to its previous state of good and harmony. The siblings are crowned kings and queens of Narnia.
Many years later, the grownup siblings follow a White Stag that leads them into the lamppost. They went beyond the miraculous post and are led into a place filled with coats. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy find themselves again in the wardrobe, and are back to being kids again just as they are before they enter Narnia.
